November 2015- LifeStream Behavioral Center has been awarded a $300,000 Mental Health and Substance Abuse Evidence-Based Programs and Services grant from LSF Health Systems for its Anthony House Pregnant and Post-Partum Women’s Program (PPW). Funds from this grant will be used to purchase seven additional residential treatment beds to treat fourteen women and their children.
LifeStream’s PPW Program is a residential substance abuse treatment program that will increase the access and availability of treatment services for pregnant and/or postpartum women and their children in Lake and Sumter Counties. However, LifeStream recognizes and shares the LSF Health Systems and Department of Children and Families vision and philosophy that an individual’s place of residence should not determine eligibility for mental health and substance abuse services. To this end, LifeStream has also adopted the “no wrong door” policy.
The goal of the PPW Program is to provide safe, stable living arrangements with comprehensive individualized, highly professional, culturally appropriate and sensitive, women specific, and onsite services for women with substance use, mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders and their children. The program will also enhance the healthy development of the children through the provision of enriched developmental and educational services.
